Westpark Toastmasters, Inc. will host an Open House on Sept.13, from 12 -1 p.m. at the Delta Community Credit Union Building, located in Peachtree City off Hwy 74. A Beginner Merengue Dance lesson and a couples ballroom dance will be held on Sept. 14 in LaGrange at the LaFayette Christian School Gym at 1904 Hamilton Road. A Company of Friends Productions will hold open auditions for performers ages 10 years through adults for their spooky fall production of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" on Sept. 14. On Sept. 15 Wellspring Living will host its 7th annual Race to Restore 5K: Run for Her Future in Peachtree City. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the race will benefit comprehensive healing programs to restore women and girls who have been sexually abused or trafficked. Fayette Market Day on Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Heritage Park at the "Lane Brown Gazebo" As always, shoppers will enjoy a variety of homemade and homegrown products. Everything from boiled peanuts, fresh squeezed lemonade, kettle popcorn, pork skins, roasted corn, jewelry, jellies, flowers, fresh produce, homemade breads, cakes and desserts, and much more. The Market opens at 10 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m. Subsequent Market Days will be held on the third Saturday of every month, now through November, and on the fourth Saturday of October. The eighth annual Chicken-Que presented by the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and United Methodist Men (UMM) of Peachtree City United Methodist Church will be held Sept. 15, with pick-up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the church campus located at the corner of Windgate Rd/Peachtree Pkwy. The Senoia Area Historical Society's annual Wine Pairing Event will be held again at the society's headquarter house and museum on Couch Street at the corner of Pylant Street on Sept. 15, 6:30 p.m. The cost for this event is $35 per person. The Cornerstone Church will host its Annual Civic Organization Day on Sunday Sept. 16 at their 9 to 10 a.m. Worship Service at their new location. The General Lafayette McLaws Camp #79 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans cordially invites the public to attend a special memorial service on Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., to honor the 42 known Confederate soldiers of Fayette County that were killed, wounded, or captured during the battles of Crampton’s Gap and Sharpsburg, Maryland in1862. In addition the service will feature a uniformed Confederate Honor Guard, a roll call of the Fayette soldiers who were lost, and the placement of Confederate battle flags and wreaths at the Confederate monument. The McLaws Camp invites descendants of any Confederate soldier that served at Sharpsburg to participate in the placement of the flags. Dementia Caregiver Support Group - The Sixty Plus Program at Piedmont Fayette Hospital offers a monthly support group for the caregivers of older adults with memory loss. Designed to be both informational and supportive, the group will provide a confidential and welcoming atmosphere for family members and friends who want to learn more about dementia. The emotional, medical, legal and financial aspects of this condition will be discussed at meetings. The group is facilitated by a licensed social worker and is open to anyone in the community. Co-sponsored by Sixty Plus Older Adult Services and the Alzheimer’s Association.
The group meets the Third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital, West entrance, 1267 Building Cancer Wellness Center, third floor.
