By Jimmie Haywood

An already long season just got a little longer for the Fayette County football team as they suffered their fifth straight loss following a 44-13 defeat to the Carrollton Trojans.
The loss keeps the Tigers winless midway through the season as they gear up for a potentially strong finish similar to last year as they were winners of two out of their last three games.
Entering the second quarter, Carrollton enjoyed a comfortable 17-0 built predominately behind a potent rushing attack.
Nearing halftime, the Tigers had the ball on the five yard line following a 90 yard run by sophomore Montrel Kelley but squandered a scoring oppourtunity with their second fumble of the half. Carrollton would gain possesion and score to make the score 24-nil at intermisson.
Fayette County would respond with a 70 yard touchdown run by Kelley, but after missing the ensuing point after attempt the Tigers were only able to make the score 24-6.
As the game continued so did Carrollton's control of it as they began to run up the score with a mix of power running and gadget plays. The Trojans racked up 352 yards on the ground, including 158 by quarterback Trey Chivers.
Fayette was strong on the ground as well, piling up 293 yards rushing. Montrey Kelley led the way with an amazing 192 yards on just nine carries. Vincent Bey added 63 on 12 carries.
Jason WIlliams threw for 95 yards on the night, completing four passes to Antonio Messick for 51 yards and two to Ashton Jackson for 44.
The Tigers added a TD in the fourth period to cap off the scoring.
Fayette County will look for a strong finish to the season when it travels to face Columbus.
