The ongoing trial of accused child molester Sol Jason Moon ended last week with a guilty verdict on several counts and two life sentences for the 54 year old Coweta man. Judge William Ison came back after the verdict with two life sentences, with no chance of parole for 60 years, meaning Moon will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Moon was convicted on seven felony charges, including child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, and sexual exploitation of a child, in connection with the molestation of children he and his wife were caring for as part of an unlicensed daycare at their East Coweta home. They apparently took care of as many as 15 young children over a period of several years.
Authorities became aware of the potential crimes when one of the victims, a young girl, came forward to her mother. The mother informed Coweta County law enforcement of the accusation, and the resulting investigation led to charges that Moon had committed molestation and aggravated sexual battery over a period of years.
Several victims testified that Moon had touched them inappropriately and told them not to tell anyone what had happened.
Though Moon ran the day care with his wife, there were no charges brought against her.
