The Fayette County Humane Society will hold its first charity golf tournament, "Fore the Paws," in Nov. and is soliciting donations for raffle prizes and sponsors at the $100 and $200 level. The choirs of Starr’s Mill High School will be performing their first concert of the school year at Willie Duke Auditorium on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Willie Duke Auditorium is located in Starr’s Mill High School at 193 Panther Path, Fayetteville. Dementia Caregiver Support Group - The Sixty Plus Program at Piedmont Fayette Hospital offers a monthly support group for the caregivers of older adults with memory loss. Designed to be both informational and supportive, the group will provide a confidential and welcoming atmosphere for family members and friends who want to learn more about dementia. The emotional, medical, legal and financial aspects of this condition will be discussed at meetings. The group is facilitated by a licensed social worker and is open to anyone in the community. Co-sponsored by Sixty Plus Older Adult Services and the Alzheimer’s Association.
The group meets the Third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital, West entrance, 1267 Building Cancer Wellness Center, third floor. The Fayette County Teen Republicans will meet Oct. 20, at the Whitewater Creek Amenities Center (165 Birkdale Drive) at 12 p.m. The meeting takes place downstairs by the pool in the Clubroom every 3rd Saturday. The Fayette County Humane Society is desperately seeking golfers for its first charity golf tournament, "Fore the Paws," which will be held on Nov. 7, at the Braelinn Golf Club in Peachtree City. The $85 per person ticket price includes green fee, golf cart, range balls, continental breakfast, and awards luncheon buffet. Proceeds will be used to fund Fayette County Humane Society's spay/neuter program and to provide veterinary care for rescued cats and dogs. Tickets are on sale now through October 31.
