Bring your pets and/or children to the Peachtree City PetSmart to have their picture taken with Santa. The cost (with a PetSmart perks card) is $9.95 per photo. PetSmart will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Fayette County Humane Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer animal rescue organization. Fire Department Santa Run – Food/Toy Drive – Santa Claus is coming to town, in a fire truck! The Peachtree City Fire Department will escort Santa around the City on weekends in December, and will accept donations of non-perishable food items to help those in need in our community as well as new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. Santa will be making his rounds on Saturdays (9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) and Sundays (11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) from Dec. 1 through 16, beginning in Kedron Village. ACOF will hold open auditions for the under sea musical masterpiece "Disney's Little Mermaid, Jr" on Monday, Dec. 3 for performers from 7 to 21 years of age. Auditions will be held at the Fayette Train Depot at 175 Lanier Ave. E in Fayetteville and will consist of a taught dance and song from the show, as well as cold readings from the script. Ages 7 to 10 years audition at 4:30 p.m., with 11 to 14 year olds at 6 p.m. and finally ages 15 to 21 at 7:30 p.m. ACOF does require that each person cast in the show pay a $125 production fee. The Starr’s Mill Choral program will present their holiday Candle Light Processional and Silent Auction on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at Starr’s Mill High School. Opening the concert with a candle light procession is a long standing tradition at Starr’s Mill. The proceeds of the annual silent auction are distributed through scholarships to graduating seniors of the chorus program, who plan to continue their vocal performance education in college. There is no admission fee for the silent auction and concert and the public is welcome to attend.

Light up the Night Toy Drive – the PTC Police Department will begin collecting toys in the Wal-Mart parking lot, and will be at that location from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for Dec. 4 – 6, and Dec. 10 – 12. Members of the department and CERT will be collecting unwrapped, new, unwrapped toys (for children age 2 to 17) and cash donations for families in need in the community. Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will host a silent auction and dinner before the Candlelight Concert on Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. Dinner tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the church office by Dec. 2. A variety of gift baskets will be available to bid on at the silent auction during dinner. The auction will end at 6:15 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds for the event will benefit two mission projects. They include Smart Lunch, Smart Kid and Stop Hunger Now. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony, sponsored by Fayette County Post 105, The American Legion. Community patriotic event commemorating the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 in front of the Log Cabin, 180 S. Glynn St, Fayetteville. Fayette Senior Services’ Project Love is a fundraising campaign that provides holiday meals via Meals On Wheels to homebound seniors. Without these funds, there will be homebound seniors in Fayette County who have nothing to eat on Christmas. For as little as $10, two meals can be provided for a senior. Donation forms can be found at www.fayss.org (online donations accepted) and at Fayette Senior Services Life Enrichment Center, 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville. Checks should be made payable to Fayette Senior Services. Credit cards accepted. The Starr’s Mill High School Chanticleer Chorus will perform in the 24th Annual Music of the Season concert with Tara Winds, Georgia’s Community Band. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the Bailey Performance Center at Kennesaw State University. The Bailey Center Performance Hall is located at 1000 Chastain Road, Kennesaw. The Peachtree City Optimist Club will hold a pancake breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8 – 11 a.m., at the Flying Biscuit Café (Hwy 54 West at MacDuff Crossing). Reservations are not required. The event is $5.99 per attendee, and will include two buttermilk pancakes, two sausage patties, and coffee, milk, or orange juice. All funds raised will benefit children and families in our community.

Santa arrives at Braelinn Village Shopping Center on Dec. 8, and will be available for free photos from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. There will also be kids’ crafts, a DJ with music, games, and prizes.

Dementia Caregiver Support Group - The Sixty Plus Program at Piedmont Fayette Hospital offers a monthly support group for the caregivers of older adults with memory loss. Designed to be both informational and supportive, the group will provide a confidential and welcoming atmosphere for family members and friends who want to learn more about dementia. The emotional, medical, legal and financial aspects of this condition will be discussed at meetings. The group is facilitated by a licensed social worker and is open to anyone in the community. Co-sponsored by Sixty Plus Older Adult Services and the Alzheimer’s Association. The group meets the Third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital, West entrance, 1267 Building Cancer Wellness Center, third floor.
