The highlight of the night was the awarding of the Carl Ryals III Memorial Trophy to Brian Floyd. Floyd, a senior, was given the award not for being the star or making the biggest dent on the stat sheet, but for his dedication to his team and hard work.
The trophy is awarded by the M Club, a group of McIntosh football alumni, in memory of Carl Ryals III, a former McIntosh football player who was tragically lost in a car accident. This is the second trophy awarded as part of the new yearly Chief tradition. Aaron Fenimore of the M Club, and Carl's father, Carl Ryals II, were on hand to bestow the honors.
"This trophy goes to the player who gives himself to the team, who has to be run out of the weight room," said Fenimore. "It goes to the type of kid that every coach loves having on the team." |
