 Jill and Andrew Durham The Moonlight Ballroom Dance Club recently celebrated the Holidays with their annual Christmas Dance on Dec. 14. Nearly one hundred people enjoyed dancing to the music of the Lou Vallee Band. Lou Vallee features ballroom music that is enjoyed by older and younger dancers. In addition to the regular fare of foxtrot, waltz, slow dance and swing, Lou adds fun dances like polka and the electric slide. Many guests brought trays of delicious goodies to share.
In November the Moonlight Club had a pre-dance Cha-Cha lesson from Katrina Volgina, a dance teacher in Columbus who brought her 6 year old student ballroom dancers who did a cha-cha demonstration (see photo).
The pre-dance beginner lessons are always a hit at the monthly dances. The next dance will be at LaFayette Christian School Gym on Friday, January 11 at 8:00 with a pre-dance SALSA lesson at 7:00 by John and Carol Woolbright of Columbus. It will be casual dress and visitor couples are welcome - $20 per couple.
And, ladies, start shopping now for your dress for the upcoming Feb. 8 Valentine Dance which will again feature the Lou Vallee Band. Couples of ALL AGES can get ready for the Valentine Dance by signing up for Basic Beginner lessons starting Thursday, January 10, with Beginner Waltz FROM 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. or Beginner Tango, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Rec. Department’s Active Life Center in LaGrange at 140 Ragland Street. Eight weeks is $80 per couple.
Couples of all ages from LaGrange, Newnan, Valley and Columbus enjoy taking lessons in LaGrange with Wayne Foote who is an Arthur Murray trained instructor. Call 706-884-5857 for more information or to sign up for beginner lessons.
