Red Cross relocated six people to a local hotel after their residence in Fayetteville caught fire Thursday at around 8:31 a.m., said Lt. Donnie Davis of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency.
Fayette County’s fire department responded to the call with assistance from the Fairburn Fire Department and put out the fire in “less than 30 minutes,” Davis said.
“The first units were on scene within minutes and the fire was under control at 9:09,” he said. “There were two residents home at the time.”
Davis said no residents or firefighters were harmed in the blaze, but the three adults and three kids were unable to stay in their home.
“Red Cross would put them up in a local hotel,” he said.
Davis said investigators will be “digging through the damage to try to find the origin of the fire,” but said the investigation is routine and that “nothing of suspicion” was thought to have occurred.
