It wasn't pretty, but it was a win. The McIntosh Lady Chiefs shook off a sluggish start to beat the East Coweta Indians 51-20.
"It was not our best outing," said McIntosh head coach David Dowse. "You have those some times. It's still a win though."
The normally high-octane Chief offense slogged it's way to a 6-3 lead after one quarter. They finally got things rolling in the second quarter thanks to sharp shooting beyond the arc by Amanda Lindsey. Lindsey would lead all scorers with 18 points for the night. A pair of Lindsey threes would key a 19-7 second quarter, giving McIntosh a 25-10 lead going into halftime.
The big three of Gabby Seiler, Cassidy Williams, and Lindsey put the game out of reach in the third quarter. Lindsey's dish to Kristin Campbell for a baseline bucket stretched the margin to 39-16 going into the final frame.
Brooke Crosby opened the fourth quarter with a three to keep the Chiefs' momentum rolling. Becca Miller's bucket piled on as McIntosh capped off a 51-20 victory.
The Chiefs got the win, but they know they left with plenty to work on as the region schedule gears up. "We need to shoot free throws better. We need to execute on the offensive end better. We just didn't do it well tonight," said Dowse.
Lindsey's 18 points were followed by 12 from Seiler and 9 by Williams.
The win runs McIntosh's record to 13-1 on the season. They play on the road at Creekside on Friday before traveling across town for a heated rivalry game against Starr's Mill on Saturday.
