Friends of the Library Poetry Contest are accepting submissions by 5 p.m. today. The Third Annual Poetry Contest is underway, with the theme, “Our World, Our Community.” Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded in three categories (students grades 1 – 6; students grades 7 – 12; and, adults 18+). There is a $10 entry fee for up to three poems. Additional rules and entry forms available at the Library or via ptc.library.friends@gmail.com.

Beginning March 1, from 7 - 8 p.m., at Snap Fitness in Braelinn Shopping Center, Peachtree City, the Rhumba will be taught at a beginner level. The Rhumba is a very romantic dance with beautiful movement and grace. This is a four week, one hour session, the cost is $35 per person. Foster Parents are Needed in Fayette County! Grace for Children Foster Care is recruiting for new foster parents. Foster parents may be married or single and do not have to own their own homes. Homes are needed for children of all ages especially for sibling groups and teenagers. Informational Orientation meetings are held on Mondays at 6 p.m. Training for new foster parents will begin April 8, at 6 p.m. One Orientation meeting must be attended before attending the training. Grace for Children Foster Care is a program of Fayette Youth Protection Homes, Inc. and is administered by Georgia Baptist Children’s Home & Family Ministries.

Donations are now being accepted for the Annual Yard Sale sponsored by Senoia Area Historical Society's museum committee. Items can be dropped off any Friday or Saturday, 1 - 4 p.m. during museum hours at 6 Couch Street. The sale will be held on April 6, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. We accept almost anything, but preferably no clothes. The Fayette County 4-H Rock Eagle Cloverleaf Camp registration will be held on March 2, from 9-11 a.m. at 140 Stonewall Avenue, Suite 210. Cloverleaf camp is for current 5th and 6th graders, and dates are July 8-13 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. Participants will experience fun, outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, canoeing, zipline, and more while staying in air-conditioned cabins! Registration form and deposit are due on March 2. The Peachtree City Kiwanis Club is proud to present the 28th annual Art and Music showcase. This is a wonderful opportunity for students of Fayette county in grades one through twelve to show off their artistic, music and dance talents. Winners of our contest will receive a monetary award plus the opportunity to go on to the Georgia district competition to win a $3,500 scholarship. Students can pick up applications at their school or the Peachtree City library.

AARP will be providing tax help for senior citizens on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church on Robinson Road (Rooms 120 – 122). The service is free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, through April 15.

The Fayette County Parks & Recreation Department will be holding volleyball registration, for girls in grades 5 – 12, between Feb. 25 and March 7. Spaces are limited, and typically fill up early. Southern Ground Amphitheater series tickets are now available to the general public. Tickets to individual concerts will go on sale April 2, and range from $15 - $65. Tables for eight are available in the Orchestra pit, and special tables are sold in the boxes of the tiered section. Tickets to all shows will be sold via the website at SouthernGroundAmp.com. and at the historic Courthouse in Downtown Fayetteville. Southern Ground Amphitheater is owned by the Downtown Development Authority and managed by the Main Street Tourism Association of Fayetteville. The Stardust Ballroom Dance Club will host a St. Patrick's Day Ballroom Dance with free Rumba Lesson on March 8, from 8:00 – 10:45 p.m. Beginner lesson at 7:00 p.m. and intermediate at 7:30 p.m. Come to either or both lessons. Oak Grove Elementary’s Tenth Annual Run for the Gold 5K Run and 1 mile Fun Run will take place on March 9, beginning at 8 a.m. Early registration is $15 for participants with a $60 cap for all families. Phantom runners - those who wish to support Run for the Gold but are unable to run - may purchase a T-Shirt for $10. Registration after March 1 is $20. Run for the Gold becomes part of the Rotary Club and Peachtree City Running Club’s Grand Prix Series of 5K races. Warm-up begins at 7:30 a.m. 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begin on Log House Road and end at Oak Grove Elementary School. Registrants may pick up race numbers and T-Shirts at OGES from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on March 8. Oak Grove Elementary is located at 101 Crosstown Road in Peachtree City – less than ½ mile from the intersection of Crosstown Road, Robinson Road, and Ebeneezer Road.

Dogwood Gallery will host,“Still Life in Watercolor” a painting workshop with artist, Troy Crisswell, who has won numerous awards in shows around the Southeast. The Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra with the Clayton State University Orchestra present "The Orchestra at the Opera" on March 10 at 3 p.m., Spivey Hall, Clayton State University, Morrow, GA 30260. The Fayette Chamber is hosting three PlanSmart seminars to help small businesses with writing good business plans, nailing down what sets them apart from the competition and pricing strategies. Dementia Caregiver Support Group - The Sixty Plus Program at Piedmont Fayette Hospital offers a monthly support group for the caregivers of older adults with memory loss. The group meets the Third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital, West entrance, 1267 Building Cancer Wellness Center, third floor.
