The Fayette County Parks & Recreation Department will be holding volleyball registration, for girls in grades 5 – 12, between Feb. 25 and March 7. Spaces are limited, and typically fill up early. This is a wonderful opportunity for students of Fayette county in grades one through twelve to show off their artistic, music and dance talents. Winners of our contest will receive a monetary award plus the opportunity to go on to the Georgia district competition to win a $3,500 scholarship. Students can pick up applications at their school or the Peachtree City library. Turn in Art to the Bridge Community Center by close of business on March 6. A panel of artists will judge the art on March 7. The public is invited to view the art on March 8 and 9, and again on March 18.

Southern Ground Amphitheater series tickets are now available to the general public. Tickets to individual concerts will go on sale April 2, and range from $15 - $65. Tables for eight are available in the Orchestra pit, and special tables are sold in the boxes of the tiered section. Monopoly registration is underway and about half full for the April 27 PTC Monopoly Tournament, to be held this year at the Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree Resort and Convention Center (201 Aberdeen Parkway). This is an official Hasbro Monopoly tournament open to those ages 12 and over. The competition has no entry fee and offers over $1,000 in cash and prizes, with prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third and fourth. Oak Grove Elementary’s Tenth Annual Run for the Gold 5K Run and 1 mile Fun Run will take place on March 9, beginning at 8 a.m. Early registration is $15 for participants with a $60 cap for all families. Phantom runners - those who wish to support Run for the Gold but are unable to run - may purchase a T-Shirt for $10. Registration after March 1 is $20. Run for the Gold becomes part of the Rotary Club and Peachtree City Running Club’s Grand Prix Series of 5K races. Warm-up begins at 7:30 a.m. 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begin on Log House Road and end at Oak Grove Elementary School. Registrants may pick up race numbers and T-Shirts at OGES from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on March 8. Dogwood Gallery will host,“Still Life in Watercolor” a painting workshop with artist, Troy Crisswell, who has won numerous awards in shows around the Southeast. East Point Masonic Lodge #288, which now calls Peachtree City home, will hold a Pancake Breakfast on March 9, from 8 – 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 for all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, orange juice/coffee. Public safety employees and military personnel in uniform eat free. The proceeds help fund all the functions of the Lodge, including the Masonic Home for Children in Macon, and will help support the local DeMolay chapter.
