Fayette seniors shine in DL Scott Coalition Bowl win

Ashton Jackson of FCHS was one of the many local stars in action.

The football season is over, but there was still time for a little more celebration. The Georgia Dome played host to a day of gridiron iron fun on Saturday for the DL Scott Coalition Bowl. For the locals, the highlight was the North versus Central All-Star Game including a number of Fayette high school stars.
The Central team featured 10 seniors from Fayette schools with Fayette County High School's Mike Davis at the helm. Davis led the squad to a 47-21 win.
Davis was joined by a trio of Tigers in Ashton Jackson, Jollyce Myrick, and DeMarkus Trice. McIntosh was represented by quarterback Andrew Johnson, punter Charlie Goedtke, and kicker Nick Alvey. Whitewater was represented by linebacker Colton Clemons and defensive end Matt Ogle. Starr's Mill running back John Smith and Our Lady of Mercy cornerback Christian Coleman rounded out the group.
After the North started the scoring, the Central offense heated up thanks in part to Andrew Johnson. Johnson, who alternated under center with East Coweta's Bryce Gemmel, completed his first two passes, including a gorgeous over the top pass to LaGrange's Tavon Rivers down to the three yard line. A short touchdown run knotted up the score.
Two more touchdowns would give Central a two score lead before they broke it wide open. John Smith did the honors when he broke through the middle of the defense and raced for a 70 yard touchdown. Nick Alvey padded the score with a 27 yard field goal to make it a 31-14 advantage at the half. Alvey would finish the game with nine points.
Central kept up the strong work in the second half. A safety and a return score on the ensuing kick would make it a 26 point lead. Whitewater's Colton Clemons would pick off a pass to set up Central's final touchdown in the big victory.
