GEMA and DPS have partnered to identify major State thoroughfares containing significant numbers of abandoned vehicles. A task force consisting of Georgia National Guard, Georgia State Patrol and DOT HERO has been developed that will assist motorists whose vehicles were abandoned during the Jan. 28-29th Severe Winter Weather Incident.
The task force is planning to:
a)Identify the locations of state thoroughfares containing the majority of abandoned vehicles
b)Provide lane closure support to ensure safe navigation of  motorists who abandoned their vehicles
c)Locate two staging areas, identified below.
d)Request through Public Messaging that Motorists who abandoned their vehicles travel to the MARTA Locations closest to their vehicles 
e)When the motorists arrive, the task force plans to provide rides/escorts to abandoned vehicles and refueling through mobile fuel tanks if necessary.
For vehicles that are not retrieved by owners, the task force will tag those vehicles and request that they be towed to regional towing locations.  Locations of major state thoroughfares containing abandoned vehicles and suggested MARTA locations is below. 
Currently one staging location has been identified:
1)    Mount Paran Baptist Church (off Mt. Paran Road- I-75)- 2055 Mount Paran Road Atlanta, GA 30327
2)    MARTA West Lake Station-
80 Anderson Avenue, SW
Atlanta, GA 30314
