She was born in College Park, GA, to Tasso and Rodie Culver. She made Fayetteville her home in 1940 when she married her late husband of 53 years, Herschel L. Banks. Mrs. Banks was retired from the Fayette County School System where her career began as manager of the FCHS lunchroom. When Fayette County started its vocational programs, she became the Food Service Instructor and remained in that position until she retired in 1986. In 1979, the senior class of FCHS honored “Miss Maggie by dedicating their yearbook to her. Among her other honors was being recognized as one of the county’s best cooks and being named Fayette County Citizen of the Year in 1980. |
