Why are you running for office?
I think I can bring fresh ideas to office, I want to represent all of the citizens of Fayetteville to the best of my ability and with the respect they deserve.
In your view, what is the towns most pressing need?
Crime prevention and the establishment of more Neighborhood Watch programs to support our Police Department.
What is your position on the sign ordinance?
It needs to be reworked. We need new guide lines for today's market. Times are hard and business needs some help. Relax some of the rules for temporary signs and banners or we will have more empty buildings.
Do you feel the current land use is adequate?
Fayetteville is going through growing pains right now. Our current land use plan is inadequate because it has been in place for years and is out of date with the times.
What are your plans for public safety in Fayetteville?
Give the police all the tools they need to do their job, support them 100 percent. Use undercover officers and sting operations in high crime areas. Urge business to install cameras inside and out.
What are your methods for eliminating empty commercial space?
Listing on city Web-site of any empty buildings. Encourage anyone wishing to build to consider renting. Use tax breaks or incentives; partner with the county, state and chamber of commerce to bring new business.
Are there any circumstances under which you could support an increase in taxes?
With our current state of economy there is nothing I can see to support a tax increase. Fayetteville needs to watch their spending. The current financial folks have done a great job. They have made the cuts needed before the bottom fell out of everything- projects with grants are good but usually only cover part of the cost.
What distinguishes you from your fellow candidates for town council?
I have no personal agenda. I'm going to be there for the taxpayers and citizens of Fayetteville. I would like to see Fayetteville experience a more positive growth.
