Advance voting for Peachtree City’s Dec. 1 runoff municipal election began Monday, but those who have yet to visit the polls may want to wait at least one more day before casting a ballot.

The Peachtree City Youth Council announced that it is hosting a final candidate forum Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the city hall chambers.

Post 1 candidates Beth Pullias and Eric Imker; Post 3 candidates Kim Learnard and Bob Walsh, and mayoral hopefuls Don Haddix and Cyndi Plunkett have all confirmed that they will attend.

“This event will be the last chance voters will have to see all six candidates together in a public forum,” said organizer Chris Lemay.

“We will ask a series of questions and each candidate will have two minutes to respond. Some of the questions will go to candidates for specific offices, and others will be asked of all six.”

Lemay added that the final 20 minutes of the two-hour forum will be dedicated to questions from audience members.

All six remaining candidates advanced to the runoff election because none received 50 percent of the total vote Nov. 3. Pullias and Imker advanced from a crowded five-person Post 1 race.

Learnard and Walsh find themselves in a runoff after both beat out incumbent Steve Boone for Post 3. Scott Rowland took about a quarter of the votes for mayor, sending Plunkett and Haddix to a runoff.

Advance voting continues this week at the elections office in the County Administrative Complex on Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Wednesday Nov. 25.

On Monday, Nov. 23, early voting will begin at the Peachtree City Library. Voters will be able to cast ballots there through Wednesday Nov. 25, also 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

After Nov. 25, the polls close until the actual election day, Dec. 1, when all of Peachtree City’s normal precincts will open from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Any Peachtree City resident who was eligible to vote in the municipal election on Nov. 3 can vote in the runoff, even if they didn’t vote in the general election.

The Youth Council, the organization hosting Wednesday’s forum, is a group of volunteer teens that represent the entire county. The Council is open to all teens in Fayette County in grades 8-12. The Youth Council is a program of the Peachtree City Recreation Department.
