Mr. Francis M. Balmes, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on December 8, 2009. Mr. Balmes is a veteran of WWII. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin James Balmes; brothers, John Balmes, Fred Balmes and Richard Balmes and sister, Agnes Walenter. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary O. Balmes; sons, Kenneth (Virginia) Balmes of Island Lake, IL and Jody (Debbie) Balmes of Libertyville, IL; daughters, Connie Balmes of Atlanta and Celeste Balmes of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Gabriel (Becca) Balmes of Brunswick, MD, Douglas (Samantha) Balmes of Bridgewater, VT, Ethan Balmes of Libertyville, Jessica Balmes of Atlanta and Sam Balmes of Waukegan, IL; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilfred Balmes of Arkansas, James Balmes of Gurnee, IL and Mark (Patricia) Balmes, Sr. of Dunwoody; sisters, Theresa Crowley of Gurnee and Mary Ann (Robert) Grum of North Chicago.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee, IL. Mr. Balmes will lie in state at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
