Robert Austin (Bob) Watson, 85, of Riverdale died December 10, 2009. He was the oldest of nine children. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a World War II survivor and Purple Heart recipient. Bob had a heart for the Lord and a calling to service. He served in numerous positions at St. Matthew United Methodist Church and North Fayette United Methodist Church for over five decades.
He is survived by Lillian, his wife, constant companion, and best friend of 63 years; son Robert A. Watson, Jr. and his wife Sheryl Watson of Roswell; daughter Kathryn Watson Barb and her husband Michael Barb of Fayetteville; grandchildren Melissa Watson White and Daniel White of Sugar Hill, Brian Watson of Alpharetta, Jonathan Barb of Fayetteville, Leigh Barb Bacon and husband Will Bacon of Montgomery, AL, Morgan Barb of Stone Mountain, and Caroline Barb of Smyrna; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Clyde and Margaret Watson of Nashville; sisters Cleo Cowan of Franklin, TN, Joyce and Russell Smith of College Grove, TN, and Anita Gillespie of Spring Hill, TN.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Fayette United Methodist Church.
