 Michael Patrick Morrison Michael Patrick Morrison, 52, passed away at Mesilla Valley Hospice's La Posada, in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Jan. 9, 2010 after a five year illness with Frontotemporal dementia. Michael was born on June 02, 1957 to Raymond Morrison and Marlene O'Rourke Morrison in Arrington, Cambridgeshire, England. Michael graduated from Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Okla., and received a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.
Michael served eight years in the United States Air Force at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska, and Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque N.M., and forteen years as a Contract Specialist for the Department of Defense in Oakland Ca., San Diego Ca., White Sands Missile Range N.M., and Ft. McPherson Ga. While working at Ft. McPherson earlier this decade, Michael and his family were residents of Fayetteville.
Michael was an avid golfer, serving as team captain and organizing golf tournaments at Kirtland AFB, and he was fan of University of Oklahoma football. He was active in the Church of Christ, teaching Bible classes and serving in many ways, including as a deacon in Albuquerque and in San Diego. Michael was loved by everyone he met, going out of his way to make everyone he met to feel like a friend.
Michael is survived by his wife, Teresa Legg Morrison of Las Cruces, his children Nathanael Morrison of Las Cruces and Amanda Morrison of Athens Ga., his mother Marlene Hines and step-father Jon Hines, his sisters Sharon Morrison and Debbie Taylor, brothers Scott Morrison and Danny Morrison, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dwane and Anne Legg, his brother-in-law David Legg, and sister-in-law Patty Brockman. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Morrison and his brother David Morrison.
Funeral services will be held in New Mexico Thursday, Jan. 14, at La Paz Graham's Funeral Home. Ron North of San Diego CA will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Las Cruces N.M. Pall bearers will be Nathanael Morrison, Scott Morrison, David Legg, Jon Hines, Jesse Hobson, and Ned Tutor.
