Mrs. Emmer Lee Benning was born on June 7, 1918 in Oglethorpe County to the late Mr. Will Murray and Mrs. Lizzie Murray. She was joined in Holy matrimony to Mr. John B. Benning, who preceded her in death.
She was an active member of the Greater Pineview Pure Holiness Church, Senoia. Where she served on the Mother Board and other auxiliaries. Church was her life and her favorite song was “I’m moving on up the hill�.
She was the Mo to everyone. Everyone on her street and block looked up to her as their Mo or Mom.
Preceding her in death were four children:Â Dorothy Dunlap, Geneva Sales, Shelly Murray, and Ophelia Woodard; five siblings: Amos Murray, Willie Murray, Georgia Murray, Mozell Porter and Curl Murray.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Arlene (Phyllis) Moreland of Decatur, Mattie Benning, Evangelist Jonnie Mae (Felton) Sales of Fayetteville, and Hattie Koonce (Marvin) of College Park; 25 grandchildren, 57 great-grand children, 36 great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers: Winston Murray (Leslie), Johnnie Murray (Gladys), and Lloyd Murray. Her best friend Mother Penson; Special son Carl McKnight and also a special daughter Linda Sinkfield, a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends who were all special to her. |
