We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Rufus Cheaves, of Newnan, Georgia on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Jones Hill Chapel United Methodist Church. Instate viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment immediately following at church cemetery.
Viewing: Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Rufus Pritchett Cheaves was called home to rest on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010. He departed this life leaving cherished memories for his family. Rufus was born on Oct. 27, 1936 to the late Mr. Andrew Cheaves and Mrs. Bertha Moore Cheaves. Three children were born from this union; Frank, Eleanor, and Rufus. His siblings all have preceded him in death. He joined the St. John Baptist Church at an early age. Rufus received his formal education in the Coweta County School System. He retired from Construction after more than forty years of service.
Rufus P. Cheaves leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of fifty years, Winnie Rose Cheaves. Five sons: Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge Cheaves (Barbara), Christopher Cheaves (Angie Echols), Carl Poindexter, Reverend Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Poindexter (Valerie), Tony Sinkfield; three daughters: Mrs. Karen Paige (Bernard), Melinor Glenn (Ricky Terrell, Mrs. Zelda Glenn (Terry); twenty seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
