A great year for Our Lady of Mercy athletics got better with Tuesday night's 6-0 victory over Calvary Day School. The win was historic for the school as they had never advanced past the first round of the state soccer tournament before. With a region championship under their belt and a number eight ranking in the state, the Bobcats are hungry to beat Aquinas in round two and keep moving forward.
The Bobcats made extremely quick work of Calvary, sending the Cavaliers back home to Savannah badly bruised. Senior Adam Rose continued his torrid pace, racking up a first half hat trick to go along with his three goals in the region championship game. Rose had already found the back of the net just over halfway through the first half.
Jarrett Goodly joined the fun, scoring on a feed from Jacob Kulwicki to give the Bobcats a 4-0 halftime advantage.
Mercy made sure to squash any hopes of a second half Calvary comeback, scoring twice within the first three minutes out of the locker room. Minh Bui netted goal number five and Nick Wells picked up number six.
The Bobcats face a tough task in round two where they traveled to play the Aquinas Fighting Irish from Augusta in round two. Aquinas came into the game ranked the number four team in class A.
