Over the weekend Whitewater High School played host to some of the state's top football teams. The 2012 Georgia 7on7U Big South National Qualifier came to Wildcat Stadium, crowning a new state champion in 7 on 7 passing competition.
Part of the festivities also included a Lineman Challenge where 64 athletes competed and earned team points in quickness, agility, speed, power, and gridiron toughness. Woodland High School won the Lineman Challenge with Whitewater coming in a close second place.
Whitewater played very well in the 7 on 7 portion of the tournament, pushing all the way into the quarterfinals before losing to Salem. Langston Hughes would be crowned the champions of the weekend after toppling Jonesboro in the title game.
The top four finishers in the 7 on 7 qualify for the National Championship tournament in Washington D.C.
